Fascia is a three-dimensional web of tough connective tissue that runs from the top of our heads to the tips of our toes. Fascia surrounds and infuses every part of the body including bones, muscles, vessels, spinal cord, internal organs, and each individual cell. It, therefore, affects every system and function of the body. Because of this, MFR is considered deep tissue work despite its gentleness. This is also why when a Therapist works on your lower back you may get a referral pain/twinge on your face or your calf, or a number of different places. Because this technique is very slow, it is obviously a very focused approach and can involve repeat visits. The upside is that it is more effective and usually goes beyond a temporary fix for chronic areas.
